A FULL TIME COORDINATOR FOR THE JUNCTION YOUTH DIVERSION PROJECT IN
EAST GALWAY
Youth Diversion Projects are funded by the Department of Justice and
the European Social Fund, in partnership with An Garda Siochana.
Garda Youth Diversion Projects work with young people aged **Apply on
the website** years mainly referred by the Gardaí to address the
issues of youth crime and anti-social behaviour. Youth Justice Workers
are tasked with diverting young people from crime and anti-social
behaviour, supporting young people to remain in or return to education
and increase their employment potential. Programmes are delivered on a
one-to-one basis or in small groups. Workers are expected to liaise
with families, other relevant agencies and attend meetings as
appropriate. The Workers are supported and supervised by the Project
Coordinator to ensure compliance with the requirements of the funder.
The Project Coordinator will support staff to maintain and produce
required project documentation and oversee compliance with the
policies and procedures of Youth Work Ireland, Galway, and the
Operational Guidelines for Youth Diversion Projects.
Applicants should have a recognised Level 8 qualification in youth or
community work, social care, counselling, or another appropriate field
as well as having at least 2 years of experience in working with teens
in a community setting. Good IT and report writing skills are
essential. Experience in supervision and previous work in YDP is
desirable. Activities in a YDP take place, in the main, during
out-of-school hours.
